Massive stars end their life cycle as core-collapse supernovae (CCSNe). These events are classified based on their light curves and spectral features. The photometric, spectroscopic, and polarimetric investigations of CCSNe have helped us in understanding the progenitor properties and up to some extent their explosion mechanism also. The ongoing large-area surveys with high cadence have made it possible to discover these objects in the early phase. As CCSNe display diverse observational properties throughout different evolutionary phases, their monitoring during both the photospheric and nebular phases is crucial. In this talk, I will present the results based on recent studies of nearby CCSNe that were followed up using 1 to 3.6m telescopes. I will also discuss the SNe-related science cases that can be undertaken with the 1.6m Mephisto observing facility which is presently under the commissioning phase at Lijiang Observatory.

报告人简介:

Brajesh Kumar is presently an Associate Research Professor at SWIFAR, Yunnan University. He obtained his PhD from the University of Liege, Belgium in 2014. He was a National Postdoctoral Fellow and visiting scientist at the Indian Institute of Astrophysics. He worked as a Project Scientist in 4m International Liquid Mirror Telescope project at Devasthal Observatory, India. His main research area includes time domain astronomy, environments of massive stars, instrumentation, and facility development.
