On July 13th 2019 the eROSITA telescope onboard the Russian SRG space mission has been successfully launched. The SRG spacecraft has now arrived at its final orbit around the Lagrangian point L2 and the commissioning and performance verification of eROSITA is in its full swing. In December 2019 eROSITA is expected to begin its four year all-sky survey, which will last until the end of 2023. I will present the hardware of eROSITA, present first results which demonstrate the capabilities of the telescope and discuss the specific potential of eROSITA for all studies of the activity of cool stars.
