In recent years, high-resolution observations of high-mass star formation regions have revealed lines of evidence that challenge current star formation theory.

I will review these surprising observational results and discuss how further, systematic observing campaigns are designed to put more stringent constraints onthe

initial conditions of high-mass star formation across our Galaxy. 

　　If time permits, I will show, practically, both theorists and observers can benefit from ALMA services, including the use of archival data and simulated observations.
