I will discuss ideal MHD instabilities for interacting current systems, either parallel or antiparallel, which offer different routes to global eruptions, distinct from the popular kink or torus instability that apply to single flux ropes only. Since the solar corona is pervaded with myriads of magnetic loops, either coalescence or tilt-kink evolutions will be a very common means to destabilize adjacent flux rope systems. I will present numerical simulations where we address various aspects in depth: 2D to 3D MHD dynamics, particle acceleration findings, and two-way coupled kinetic-fluid studies, where the complete phase-space intricacies of reconnection is incorporated.
