摘要:   Future astronomical instruments, in particular for next generation extremely large telescopes (ELTs), will likely be required to be much larger and globally much more performing than the current status of the art.  The emphasis set on multi-object observation and the sheer size of planned instruments represent technology challenges which cannot be met simply by upgrading the current concepts. Such advances can only be made possible in many cases by applying technology already developed in other domains, industry in particular. Systems engineering and integrated modeling will become even more important than they are now. Also, instrumentation engineers will need to be ever more multidisciplinary and open to high-precision technology developed in contexts very far from astronomy and even science. Two recent developments are presented in this respect: a prototyping of micro-robots for innovative large multi-object spectrographs, and a metrology system for calibrating high-precision mechanical systems (such as hexapods) based on technology developed for industrial vision.
